How
much do those Nerds make? |
|
NetNerds
is only as good as the Nerds that are registered on the site. We value
those computer gurus! Thus, those strapping young Nerds are paid well!
netNerds
receives either $15 or 20% of your payment. That means a Nerd makes,
on average, $25/ hour. (Wow!) The portion that netNerds takes goes towards
maintaining the site, management of the jobs, hiring process and of course
our marketing.
The
payment is given to the Nerd only after you approve his/her work. We need
your thumbs up before netNerds will release the money. The tech will
charge a 10% markup on any parts he/she
provides. |

How
do you become a Nerd?? |
|
NetNerds
is a connection service. We're confident that there are many people
with computer frustrations. Now, we just need some Nerds! It turns out
there isn't a shortage of them either! You may be sitting next to one
right now (Don't stare, its rude).
In
order gain access to our site, and your computer problems, netNerds must
approve the Nerd.
- They
have to submit their resume, which must contain a minimum of 6
months of work or internship experience in the computer field.
- They
must answer behavioral questions that dive into their deep dark fears
and uncover what animal they are most like (We won't let any Dogs come
into your house!)
- Then,
they must pass a technical phone interview. This assess their ability to
think on their feet, explain things in non-technical terms and their
overall ability to solve your problem.
Phew!
So after jumping through all those hoops, netNerds approves the
Nerd. And they become a professional. |

What
if they don't fix it? |
|
Physical
violence is not an option. We do not encourage unfair fights. Do not hurt
the Nerd. Just don't pay them. If the Nerd cannot fix your
problem, they cannot charge you. Yep, its true. We do have these
disclaimers and advisements:
Nerds
are not magicians. They cannot make your computer turn on after you
spilled water on it. They cannot make your 5 year old machine act brand
new. And they certainly cannot make you stop downloading things that you
shouldn't be downloading.
You
must pay a minimum fee of $19
for their expertise, even the Nerd leaves and you still are having
computer problems. What does this
mean? Your Nerd determines that the power cord is the problem and you
need a new one. They can order it for you or tell you what to order. In
any case, they have provided come invaluable advice that will help you
solve your computer issues. Or, you spill water on your computer and would
like a Nerd to determine if it is fixable. They gently deliver the bad
news. Yes, Cheapy Mc Cheap, you do have to pay them. |

What
if I request a job, and no one contacts me? |
|
Well
first, netNerds hopes that does not happen! We are just
starting this new way of doing business, and we're trying hard. If a Nerd
has not contacted you within 32 hours (a day and a half) please e-mail
netNerds, or call 1-888-Nerd-Now.
We
will determine if:
- Your
request is very complex, and only a select few nerds are qualified to
fix it. We may have to modify your request.
- Maybe
you picked a random time that no Nerds could make. (Football
Saturday?)
- Are
you running windows 98? Hmm, no one wants to fix that. Just Kidding.
- Did
you make fun of Nerds in your childhood? In that case, you are on a
blacklist and will never get service from any professional Nerd.
Ever.
- NetNerds
has sooo much business that all the Nerds are booked. Wow! In that case,
we may take a little longer getting back to you, being that we are soooo
busy.

My
computer was working when they left, but now it
isn't! |
|
First,
turn your computer off and turn it back on. Just like people,
computers need fresh starts. No really. Stop reading FAQ and turn off your
computer. Go.
Still
have problems?? Before you paid your Nerd, you approved the work that was
done. This means that something must have happened after the Nerd left.
Because computers are moody and more unpredictable than the Bears
Quarterback on good days, netNerds cannot be responsible for problems that
occur after you approve their work and they leave. But, we do understand
that this happens. We ask that you send your Nerd a message on our site.
Find your Nerd’s profile name and then request a quote. You will have the
option of sending it to a specific Nerd.

I
need to cancel my appointment!
Quick!
Login to your account and notify the Nerd that you can no longer make the
appointment at the specified time. We know that things come up or you may
just change your mind. However, netNerds charges a $15 cancellation fee if
it is less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment. Nerds have lives too.

I
don't have internet. How do I pay? |
|
So, my computer is fried. The
Nerd did what he could do, helped me understand the problem and my next
steps. But... the funeral has been scheduled [tear].
After the nerd completes the
report, you will be e-mailed an approval form. Make your way to a
computer – your roommates, the Universities, a library, your work's, a
kiosks, ect. Before you pay, you must check this off, and signify
that the Nerd's report is accurate. Then make the payment. You have a MAX
of 2 days after the report if filed to make the payment. This is no laughin’ matter, Nerds
have bills too. And we will come find you.

Need a
part?
The Nerd can order it for you!
You can wait to approve the job, and have him or her come back to your
house to install it. Or, the Nerd can just help you order it, and when it
arrives you can request another job. The Nerd will charge a 10% markup on any
parts he/she provides.

|
Why do you want my credit card
before I receive service?
If you cancel
the appointment 24 hours before it is scheduled. netNerds will charge your
card $15.
Both YOU and the NERD must exercise responsible judgment
when using the site and conducting business related to the site. netNerds
is a connection service at heart. It just doesn't work if you break social
trust. If remediation between you and the Nerd should have to occur, your
credit card acts as escrow funds that can be released or refunded
depending on the situation
